From Vattenjaget to Vattenjagen:

Embracing Plurality

When we first began this project, we named it Vattenjaget.
The name felt natural — a focused and personal connection to the lake. But as we stood before Vombsjön something didn’t sit right. The lake was not singular, nor were we.

That revelation shifted everything. We realized Vattenjaget was too narrow, too fixed. It failed to capture the fluidity and multiplicity of what the lake represents — not just one “I” but a chorus of identities, experiences, and voices. When we encounter Vombsjön, we are not alone. We are part of something larger, a plural existence where the boundaries between “I” and “you” dissolve into we. It’s not just “I” navigating the waters. It’s you. It’s them. It’s us.

So we renamed the project Vattenjagen. Plurality is not only more accurate—it’s necessary. We are all different, yet interconnected. To understand the lake is to embrace its multiplicity, to invoke the unseen and provoke new perspectives.

Vattenjagen reflects the collective spirit of this journey:
a recognition that no single voice can speak for the water.
Together, we become the lake—diverse, layered, alive.

The project, Vattenjagen, ultimately is a speculative design projects that proposes a future where we, humanity are capable of speaking directly to our bodies of water (with our water bodies) through a Liminal Contact Interface. This proposed future also includes an institution, The Liminal Council, where more-than-humans and humans collaborate in caring for our water ecosystems.  This project as a whole suggests we  careless about the metrics and care-more about our emotional connections to our water bodies.

It’s not just
“I”
navigating the waters.
It’s you.
It’s them.
It’s us.
